PSX gains 262 points to close at 41,577 points

ISLAMABAD (APP): The KSE 100-index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed bullish trend on Monday, gaining 262.33 points, with a positive change of 0.63 percent, closing at 41,577.21 points against 41,314.88 points on the last working day.
A total of 189,245,419 shares were traded during the day compared to the trade of 225,392,739 shares the previous day, whereas the price of shares stood at Rs.4.901 billion against Rs.5.988 billion on last trading day.As many as 342 companies transacted shares in the stock market,193 of them recorded gain and 23 sustained losses, whereas the share price of 342 companies remained unchanged.
The three top trading companies were Unity Foods Ltd with a volume of 33,135,389 shares and price per share of Rs.21.07, Pak Refinery with volume of 16,292,330 and price per share of Rs.17.46 and TLP Properties with volume of 11,664,531 and price per share of Rs.18.55.Bata (Pak) witnessed a maximum increase of Rs.61.59 per share, closing at Rs.1,771.59 whereas the runner up was Sapphire Fiber, the share prices of which climbed up by Rs.50.58 to Rs1,149. Rafhan Maize witnessed maximum decrease of Rs155 closing at Rs9,800 followed by Indus Motor Company, the share price of which declined by Rs28.28 to close at Rs.1,225.15.
Rupee sheds Rs2.14 against US Dollar
Exchange rate of Pak Rupee weakened by Rs2.14 against the US Dollar in the interbank trading on Monday and closed at Rs200.06 against the previous day’s closing of Rs197.92.
According to the Forex Association of Pakistan (FAP), the buying and selling rates of dollar in the open market were recorded at Rs197.6 and Rs199.6 respectively.
The price of Euro appreciated by Rs1.96 and closed at Rs214.88 against the previous day’s closing of Rs212.92.
Meanwhile, Japanese Yen remained unchanged to close at Rs1.52, whereas an increase of Rs2.04 was witnessed in the exchange rate of British Pound, which was traded at Rs251.06 as compared to its last closing of Rs249.02.
The exchange rates of Emirates Dirham and Saudi Riyal increased by 58 paisas to close at Rs54.46 and Rs53.33 respectively.
Gold prices up by Rs.2800 to Rs.142,000 per tola
The price of 24 karat per tola gold witnessed an increase of Rs.2,800 per tola and was sold at Rs.142,000 on Monday against its sale at Rs.139,200 the previous day in the local market.
The price of 10 gram 24 karat and 22 karat gold also increased by Rs.2400 and was sold at Rs.121,742 as compared to Rs. 119,342 whereas that of ten gram gold increased to Rs.111,597 compared to its sale at Rs.109,396, All Sindh Sarafa Jewellers Association reported.
The price of per tola and ten gram silver remained stagnant at Rs.1570 and Rs.1,346.02 respectively.
The price of gold in international market decreased by $3 and was traded at $1854 compared to its sale at $1851, the association reported.
